Honoring Women in Healthcare: Dr. Yue Yuan

On International Women's Day, Mentor Ridge proudly celebrates Dr. Yue Yuan, an exceptional female attending physician whose dedication, compassion, and expertise inspire both patients and colleagues alike.

Dr. Yuan’s unwavering commitment to excellence in medicine and her leadership in empowering others exemplify the remarkable impact women make in healthcare. We honor her contributions and the transformative difference she continues to make in the lives of so many.



Below, Dr. Yue Yuan shares some thoughtful insights and background on her path to becoming a treasured part of the Mentor Ridge team:

“Working in healthcare and medicine is something that I find challenging, but also very gratifying when I see and hear treatment success stories. It is also a field where I continuously learn new things as I continue to practice.

I began my career as a hospitalist right after graduating from residency. Treating acute illnesses in the hospital setting appealed to me because it gives you a kind of instant gratification when you find a solution or effective treatment plan. When I noticed readmission rates at my hospital were increasing, I found an opening in a post-acute care setting and seized the opportunity to explore and develop this area of medical practice as well.

Post-acute care comes with its own challenges that keep the practice of medicine stimulating. As I address a patient’s short-term rehabilitation needs to recover from an acute illness or injury, I am simultaneously managing chronic medical conditions as well as their psychosocial and emotional needs which can complicate treatment plans and require frequent adjustments. It is deeply rewarding to see my patients regain their capacities and functional status during the post-acute recovery stay, allowing them to return to their home and lifestyle.

Being in post-acute medicine has offered me a good work-life balance, as I am also a mom of two. I am able to keep my schedule flexible to meet the needs of both my patients, and my family. I encourage more women to pursue a career in medicine—if you have a passion for it, it’s doable. The road is hard, but it is incredibly fulfilling.”
